In 2006, the angel face Katrina was paired opposite her lucky charm Akshay Kumar in Humko Deewana Kar Gaye. Although her Hindi sucked (her voice was dubbed), her screen presence was more than enough for the film to become a hit. Then followed superhits like Namastey London, Partner and Welcome in 2007. Katrina was no longer just a pretty face.
Even on the modelling front, the actress was most sought after as a celebrity show stopper. Her style too, upgraded to glamorous.
2008 was a breakthrough year for the pretty actress. She starred in films like Race, Singh is Kinng and Yuvraaj. The actress started making her presence felt in the news too, for good and bad reasons. That very year, for the first time, Katrina was voted the sexiest woman in a poll conducted by Men’s lifestyle magazine FHM. She was also the most searched Bollywood star in Google.
By the way, in a short span of 10 years, Kats has been voted the Sexiest Woman in the world, four times, beating the likes of actresses including Megan fox and Angelina Jolie.
Meanwhile, there was no relief from the critic front. She was continued to be ridiculed for her inability to speak Hindi, for being a non-actor, just an eye candy and plastic. But, the actress did have well wishers too. She was praised for her hard-working streak.
2009, Katrina decided to refuse anyone who dubbed for her, using her own voice in films there after, her first being New York. That year, the Katrina barbie doll was launched too.
